The role
Personally prospect, pitch, negotiate and close business while coordinating assigned sales and marketing associates. Sponsorships, event business, advertising and commercial partnerships are core priorities; intelligence and advisory sales will be pursued where an approved offering and delivery capacity exist. You will agree a focused commercial plan with the Founder / CEO and help develop the sales process and propositions.
What you will do
- Identify target organisations and decision-makers, and turn buyer needs into clear proposals.
- Own opportunities from prospecting through negotiation, approved agreement and handover; develop repeat business and renewals.
- Maintain an accurate pipeline with values, stages and next actions, and give realistic forecasts.
- Develop sponsorship packages with defined audience value, benefits, deliverables, pricing and measures of success.
- Win sponsors and commercial participation for events; brief associates and coordinate campaign pages with the website administrator.
- Review scope, margin and payment terms with Finance and delivery colleagues, and support timely invoicing and collections.
- Protect editorial independence: sponsorship must never promise favourable coverage or influence over editorial conclusions.
Who we are looking for
- Evidence of personally winning business, growing accounts or delivering commercial targets.
- Some direct experience in sponsorship acquisition, commercial partnerships or the commercial side of events.
- Strong prospecting, proposal writing, presentation, negotiation and consistent follow-up; confident with senior decision-makers.
- Commercial numeracy covering pricing, margins and payment terms.
- Typically five or more years of relevant experience. Results and responsibility matter more than previous title. Energy-sector knowledge is helpful but not essential.
- Background welcome from banking and financial services, media agencies, print or digital media, advertising, events or professional services.
What success looks like
30 days: review offerings and opportunities; agree priorities, targets and a pipeline baseline. 60 days: consistent outreach and qualified proposals progressing. 90 days: evidence of opportunity progression and sales against agreed milestones.
